This place is awesome. Best sundaes in Chicago. It reminds me of an old-school ice cream parlor (something that the world is lacking these days) with a waitress that takes your order and brings out your sundae on a silver platter.
They have a ton of ice cream flavors to choose from, all kinds of different sundaes, ice cream sodas, brownies with ice cream, shakes, and malts or just go with a scoop or two in a cone. You name it. They also have the most amazing homemade hot fudge and caramel sauce. And they give you a ton of it. No skimping out here. The price is right. Our favorite is the three scoop grandpa’s turtle sundae that comes with a homemade turtle, whip cream, nuts, a wafer cookie and hot fudge and caramel sauce and it rings in at $3.95. You cannot beat the price for how huge the sundae is.
We love walking here on summer nights or Saturday/Sunday afternoons. I mean, who doesn’t love ice cream on a hot summer night? It’s the perfect date. There are two locations – the original is on Western Avenue and the other is on Montrose Avenue under the Montrose brown line stop. Take a seat inside or outside to people watch.
So forget the overpriced Cold Stones, Marble Slabs, and Baskin Robbins of the world and step into a little sweet taste of nostalgia.
