Happy May Day

Hyvaa Vappu!!

And in Finnish, Hyvaa Vappu! Vappu and Midsummer are Finland's two main holidays in the spring and summer. The celebration begins the eve of April 30th and continues through the first of May in many towns and cities across Finland. There are many traditions in celebrating Vappu some of them being lavish picnicking in parks (Kaivopuisto and Kaisaniemipuisto in Helsinki) with copious amounts of food and alcoholic beverages. There are also many traditions with university students, especially with the engineering students and their infamous white caps.
